Laser Field Resurfacing
Treats wider patches of sun damage and early pre-cancerous change, as an option alongside field-treatment creams and standard PDT.
Laser-Assisted PDT
For some superficial basal cell cancers and SCC in situ, this can avoid surgery. Whether it suits you depends on the cancer's type, size and site.

Is seeing a dermatologist covered by Medicare?
Medicare rebates may apply to eligible medical consultations and procedures. Cosmetic treatments are not covered by Medicare.
Do you bulk bill?
No. DERMSS is a private billing practice, so consultation fees apply to all doctor appointments. With a valid referral, you may be able to claim a Medicare rebate for specialist consultations.

That depends on your concern. Our specialist dermatologists are Dr Mitchell Robinson, Dr Emily Shao and Dr Benny Yau, all Fellows of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD). How soon can I get an appointment?
Most new patients are seen within two weeks. You can ask for a particular dermatologist, or for the first available appointment with any of our dermatologists.
What's the difference between a dermatologist consult and a nurse skin assessment?
A dermatologist consultation is for medical skin conditions, skin cancer, complex concerns and specialist cosmetic or laser care. A nurse skin assessment is for cosmetic concerns and treatment planning. If your nurse identifies a medical concern, a dermatologist consultation may be recommended, which is booked separately and fees apply.
Do you see patients from outside Brisbane?
Yes. For some conditions, such as rhinophyma, an initial telehealth assessment may be available, with treatment then carried out in person at our Mount Gravatt clinic.
